Is There Such Thing as Reverse Evolution?

If there is one thing that we learned at the Natural History museum today, it is this... Never look over your shoulder. Even if you feel hot breath on the back of your neck. Because if you turn around, the only thing you will see is a window to the past. A past that you don't want to revisit. A place where humans grow horns...

And huge, teeth-like things that they use to stab other things...

And then, if you look hard enough through that window... past the horns, and the teeth... you will see something frightening. We're talking... the kind of fright that finds its way into your nightmares... clowns.

Blow up those balloons people. The parade is coming.

ZNEERNI

Tuesday night was Thanksgiving at 37-53 62nd St. We played Scrabble to pass the time while the turkey was cooking. As you can clearly see, I had great letters. Zneerni is the word I laid down to clinch the victory. Boo-ya.

Between the Bookends

Left bookend: Latinos in the subway.

On the train this morning, as I was riding into Manattan, this remarkably well-balanced man played us all "una cancion de amor." When he finished and nobody clapped, he started asking for money. "Que Dios te bendiga."

In between the bookends: My day.

The new Muji stored opened in SoHo today. It was awesome, I waited in line for it to open. And then we all went in and browsed cheap plastic items that look super cool and hold lots of pencils and pens. I love SoHo. I shopped around for most of the morning until I had to meet Jason at the M.A.C. design studio to talk about a project that we are going to work on together.

Right bookend: Latinos in the subway.

These two fine gentlemen had a long day at work. Just after this photo was taken, I offered them the only thing I had to give... a shoulder to sleep on. I'm serious. The guy on the left was all over me. I think there is a little bit of dried drool on my hoodie.

2173 Miles in 12 Hours

I hate Air Traffic Control. They decided yesterday that there was too much "air traffic" into LaGuardia. So I ended up sitting in the Denver airport long enough to memorize the names of all the airport employees.

There's Luis who empties the garbage. He fled from El Salvador as a political refugee. Then there's Georgia. She washes the glass on the side of the moving walkway. Her sister just moved to Pennsylvania, so Georgia will be going there for Thanksgiving. Then there is Hasina from Pakistan who made me this lovely Santa Fe chicken sandwich.

Once we finally got on the plane, the pilot told us the air traffic control had decided that we needed to wait a little bit longer. So I stared out the window, and this is what I saw...

Pretty.

So I finally made it to the big town. We landed at 11:00 pm, I got in line for a taxi and this is what I listened to:

Impatient man waiting for a taxi: "Hey lady, can't you make these taxis go any faster?"

Grouchy lady working the taxi line: "I'm going as fast as I can. It's the people getting in the taxis that are slow. So if you want this to go faster, when your taxi, get in there as fast as you can. You bum, don't tell me how to do my job."

It was awesome. Welcome to the big town.
